Highly Sensitive Salinity and Temperature Sensor Using Tamm Resonance

In this paper, a Tamm plasmon resonance-based sensor is theoretically studied to calculate the salinity of seawater as well temperature based on photonic crystals. The transfer matrix method (TMM) used systematically study and analyze reflected s-polarized electromagnetic waves from sensing structure. proposed structure composes prism/Au/water/ $${(\mathrm{S}\mathrm{i}/{\mathrm{S}\mathrm{i}\mathrm{O}}_{2})}^{N}$$ /Si. sensitivity, figure-of-merit, quality factor, detection limit sensors are improved by optimizing thickness layer, incident angle, concentration, temperature. records very high sensitivity 8.5 × $${10}^{4}$$ nm/RIU factor $$3\times {10}^{3}$$ , low $${10}^{-7}$$ nm. Besides, suggested achieves (from 2.8 10.8 nm/°C), high-quality $$3.5\times $${3\times 10}^{-7}$$ These results indicate that strong candidate for measurements.
